It’s been 30 years since Hyosung motorcycles was founded in South Korea and, to commemorate the milestone, a limited-edition version of the popular GV650 cruiser has been released for the 2008 model year.
The GV650 has always been one of Hyosung’s best-selling models, combining sporty cruising with ample power and an attractive price tag. The anniversary model still combines all those elements, but it’s in the finish where the disparity kicks in: the tubular frame and wheels on the limited-edition are red, and the rest of the machine is a deep and lustrous black.
Hyosung motorcycles are manufactured at a massive industrial complex in Changwon City, which is located on the south-eastern tip of the Korean Peninsula. In 2007, Hyosung Motors and Machinery was acquired by the S&T Group – one of South Korea’s biggest corporations with a global turnover of more than $10 billion. The manufacturing company is now called S&T Motors.
Limited Edition GV650.Limited edition of the GV650 featuring EFI, special gloss/matte black finish, Candy Red highlights, and it is embossed with "30 Anniversary xxx out of 1000". This model is limited to 200 bikes within the USA. The other 800 bikes are shipped to other countries so if you purchase one, you will have 1 of 1000 in the entire world, 1 of 200 in the USA.
This bike looks like a V-Rod but is 1/3 the price. Even at 1/3 the price, the bike has many high-end features like an 8 valve DOHC engine that revs to 10,500RPM while putting out 80HP. It is water cooled, has a large capacity fuel tank, adjustable foot pegs, dual front disk brakes and a two year warranty.
The bike employs a belt drive system which is 3 times better than the chain-type plus this belt drive is quieter and maintenance-free.
