Specification, Features & Images of all new version of Mahindra Bolero

The facelifted Bolero gets a major cosmetic upgrade in the form of an all new front end, replete with new headlamps, bumper and a grille. A-la-The Scorpio, the Bolero too gets a dollop of chrome on it’s grille, in what is appearing to be a trademark design touch on all Mahindra vehicles. The matt finish grille and the muscular bumper manage to keep the muscular appeal of the Bolero intact although the design looks overdone when compared to the clean, uncluttered lines of the current Bolero.

The other big change is in the engine department of the Bolero, which now gets the 75 Bhp common rail diesel engine that is the same engine that the Maindra Scorpio EX features. By the looks of it, this engine might replace the 97 Bhp, 2.5 liter CRDI unit that the current Bolero features in VLX guise as the ZLX variant that has been scooped seems like the top of the line variant, with plenty of bells and tinkles in the interiors as well.

That said, we’ll have to wait and watch what Mahindra chooses to do with the 2.5 Liter 97 Bhp-250 Nm CRDe engine that serves the current top-of-the-line Bolero VLX. Also, will the Bolero ZLX’s CRDe engine come with the micro hybrid technology is something that isn’t known at this moment. However, the increased mileage of the lesser powered CRDI engine should be the big selling point for the facelifted Bolero. On the inside, the facelifted Bolero feels decidedly more premium with beige interiors and leather trim for the steering wheel.

The instrumentation stalks too look newer apart from the digital speedometer being the other new feature. How Mahindra will position the facelifted Bolero ZLX is something that will be interesting to see as the top of the line model could come dangerously close to the Scorpio EX’s price. So, the 75 Bhp engine could be a ploy by Mahindra to ensure that the Bolero doesn’t get a more powerful engine than it’s flagship product, the Scorpio, and to also to widen the price gap between the top end Bolero ZLX and the entry level Scorpio EX.
