Racing set to return to Darley Moor circuit after break

Following a six week break, round four of Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club’s Championship is ready to get underway this Sunday.

The longer break between rounds three and four is to allow club secretary, Eddie Nelson, to take-up his regular role of clerk of the course for the world’s most famous motorcycle race, the Isle of Man TT Races.

And whilst the 1.5 mile Darley Moor circuit is much smaller than the 37.75 mile TT course, there will be plenty of excitement for local biking fans.

The Peak Cup Championship will see Derby’s Shane Pearson and Wigan’s Jim Hodson renew rivalry, whilst the Sidecar pairing of Roger Golling and Rob Dean will be looking to return to winning ways after being forced to take two runner-up places at round three, which left the championship’s top three split by just eight points.

Just five points separate Stoke racers Chris Spooner (1st) from Matt Zschiesche (3rd) in the Lightweight Championship, but with a victory in round three, Loscoe’s Adam Hoare, currently 5th, will be looking to close the gap, as will Long Eaton’s Ben Godfrey in fourth.

Ricky Tarren (Tamworth) will be looking to finish both races this time out after recording a 3rd and then suffering a ‘dnf’ in the second race as he lost the GP125 Championship lead, but is just two points adrift.

Running alongside the GP machines will be the Formula 125 riders with Asher Durham (Derby) hoping for another rostrum finish after securing a third place last time out.

William Green (Buxton) will be aiming for his first rostrum finish this weekend.

Formula 600s, Formula Darley, the Pre-injection 600 Championship and the Sound of Thunder class will also be battled out, as well as the Pre 98s championship.

Practice begins at 10am with the first race expected at 11.30am.

Entrance is £11 for adults, £6 for senior citizens, whilst all children under-16s are free.

Parking & paddock transfers are free with programmes costing £3.

Food is available throughout both days at the ‘Darley Diner’.
