Honda Recalls 2008-2010 ST1300 Motorcycles for Rear Brake Reservoir Hose Problem

Honda is recalling certain model year 2008 through 2010 ST1300 motorcycles manufactured from November 15, 2007, through May 27, 2010, model year 2008 through 2010 ST1300A motorcycles manufactured from November 7, 2007, through April 6, 2010, and model year 2009 ST1300PA police motorcycles, manufactured from November 18, 2008, through December 8, 2009.

When the rear suspension of the motorcycle is repeatedly bottomed out (fully compressed), the rear brake reservoir hose may become damaged and leak brake fluid.

The number of units affected is 2232.

Currently, the Honda Jazz’s Base variant in Delhi costs INR 7,12,500 ex-showroom, and the Jazz has been selling with a dealer discount of around 55 thousand rupees. Add to this a special insurance amount offer by Honda of 1 Rupee, the total discount basket for the Honda Jazz at the dealer end is around 80,000 rupees. So, the 1.75 Lakh discount on the Honda Jazz is effectively a 95,000 Rupee price cut, which is simply astounding to say the least. What this means is, the price of the Jazz has now seen a steep correction, with the entry level Jazz being available for under 6 Lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi.

Suddenly, the Honda Jazz looks like a tremendous value for money proposition as the Jazz has always been a brilliantly kitted out car with very nifty features like the Magic seats, adding tremendous practicality and space to the Jazz’s interiors. The 2.4 litre variant also gets four-wheel drive. But, the present scenario calls for a diesel engine and we expect to see one in the next generation at least. The main rivals in the segment today are Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Captiva and the Mitsubishi Outlander all of which get frugal oil burners in place of gasoline power which is quite expensive these days.

The new 2.2 litre i-CTDI diesel engine is what Honda could offer in India. The new engine produces 140 bhp and 251 lb-ft of torque from its inline four cylinder configuration. This could form the basis of Honda’s revived campaign in India. Honda was under intense pressure recently as sales of the Honda City mid-sized car fell only because of the lack of a diesel option. Honda then announced that the company will be introducing a diesel engine for India as more and more people are now moving to diesels as the price petrol spikes day after day.

Honda City new price after Honda announce price cut of it

Honda has announced a huge price cut for the Honda City car today with effect from 14th June. The price cut ranges from  Rs 44,000 all the way up to Rs 66,000.

There are many reasons for this sudden price reduction though. The Volkswagen Vento now leads the segment in terms of sales. A few months back, the All New Honda City used to rule the premium mid-sized segment in India. The main reason for the drop in sales could be associated with the rising petrol prices and the interest rates apart from car buyers finding more value in other products like the Vento and SX4. Customers, all of a sudden moved on to diesel cars as prices of gasoline started to shoot up. Honda does not offer a diesel as of  now and hence lost most of its customers to the VW Vento and the SX4 Diesel

Secondly, Honda’s traditional strength quality has been matched by other competitors in in recent times. There is more awareness among the consumers these days and since the competition was offering the same quality and far more features than the Honda City, they chose to move away from the Honda sedan. As consumers were offered with better options than the Honda City in the form of the Volkswagen Vento and Maruti SX4, both of which have a diesel engine in their line-up, the sales of the City started to drop rather steeply over the past few months.

With competition on the rise, Honda is forced to rethink their strategy and has decided to drop the prices of the Honda City. It is actually heartening to see Honda finally giving-in to the competition which could help boost sales of the City. The Honda City is actually a great car with one of the most reliable and fuel-efficient petrol engines available in India and it has been let down mainly by its premium price.

Having said that, since the car lacks features which it competitors are offering it would wise for Honda to include some more toys in the package. Finally, Honda should come with a diesel engine as soon as possible as that is what the market is demanding at the moment. The price drop will certainly make the Honda City more attractive to prospective buyers but in the long run, a diesel engine option could do more to sustain sales and help restore Honda’s position in the market. The bank angle sensor may be incorrectly manufactured creating the possibility of an erroneous reading which could cause the engine to stall.

The number of units affected is 3020.
