Superbike stars to fly with Snowbirds

From Frontline CSBK

TORONTO, ON – Canadian Superbike Championship by Parts Canada stars Brett McCormick and Steve Crevier will get high speed thrills of a different kind on Saturday, July 16.

The two are scheduled to take to the sky with the famed Snowbirds Demonstration Team as part of a continuing partnership between the squad and the Canadian Superbike Championship.

The Snowbirds made a special fly-by as part of the national road race series opener at Circuit ICAR on May 28 and are slated to make an appearance in the air over Mosport International Raceway during the Canadian Superbike season finale doubleheader Aug. 19-21.

“This is certainly going to be a real experience,” said 19-year-old Saskatoon native McCormick, who is unbeaten in Canadian Superbike Championship by Parts Canada action heading into this weekend’s fourth round at Autodrome St-Eustache in St-Eustache, Que. “The Snowbirds are a Canadian icon and represent our country proudly. It will be an honor to meet the team and fly with them.”

The 43-year-old Crevier is a six-time Canadian Superbike Champion and currently leads the standings in the Harley-Davidson XR1200 Cup support class.

“This is going to be the thrill of a lifetime,” said the Maple Ridge, B.C. racer. “What Canadian kid hasn’t dreamed of riding with the Snowbirds? I’m looking forward to the experience. I know it’s going to be memorable.”

The event will be featured in a future issue of Inside Motorcycles magazine, and editor John Hopkins will join McCormick and Crevier in Airdrie, Alta. on July 16.

The relationship between the Snowbirds and the Canadian Superbike Championship by Parts Canada has been co-ordinated by Jay Fox of Fox Family RoadRacing in Calgary. Fox Family RoadRacing runs a wide range of Mini RoadRacing events across Canada and last season helped promote the Canadian Superbike Championship event at Calgary’s Race City Motorsport Park.

The Snowbirds Demonstration Team (431 Squadron) is a Canadian icon comprised of serving members of the Canadian Forces. Their pilots and technicians work as a team to bring thrilling performances to the North American public. Serving as Canadian ambassadors, the Snowbirds demonstrate the high level of professionalism, teamwork, excellence, discipline and dedication inherent in the women and men of the Air Force and the Canadian Forces.
